What are CEREC Same-Day Crowns?
CEREC same-day crowns are a game-changer. In the past, dentists had to use trays full of pink impression putty to make molds of your teeth. Dental labs then used these molds to make crowns, inlays, onlays, and other restorations.
Today, we’re happy to say that our dentists use CEREC to take digital impressions of your teeth. This means you can skip the gag-inducing impression putty.
Here’s what you need to know about our CEREC same-day crowns.
What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC takes faster pictures of your teeth at higher resolutions. This allows us to identify how a crown might fit and immediately create an impression.
We can place your new dental crown in one appointment, eliminating the need for a temporary crown.
Here are the benefits of CEREC:
- Done in one appointment
- No triggering your gag reflex
- No uncomfortable temporary crowns
- Digital impressions are precise
- Dental crowns feel comfortable and look natural
- Materials are safe and durable
Done in One Appointment
In the past, patients had to wait for weeks for an off-site lab to create dental crowns. Our dentists are always looking for ways to improve your experience as a patient. This is why they started using CEREC to streamline the . We can plan and place a CEREC crown in one appointment so you can leave our office smiling with confidence.
No Triggering Your Gag Reflex
Many people can’t tolerate impression putty because it triggers their gag reflex. But our dentists use a slim hand-held device to take pictures of your teeth and gums.
Digital impressions are less invasive than trays filled with goop and more accurate. The scanner takes precise digital impressions. The result is a dental crown that looks and feels natural.
No Uncomfortable Temporary Crowns
Not all dentists use CEREC. As a result, their patients have to wear temporary crowns between appointments. When they return for their second appointment the dentist places the permanent crown.
Dentists use a weak adhesive to hold a temporary crown in place. That way, they can remove the crown with ease when the permanent restoration is ready. For this reason, it’s not uncommon for temporary crowns to fall out or not fit well.
Since we create your crown in one appointment, you can avoid the discomfort of a temporary crown.
Digital Impressions are Precise
After we take impressions of your teeth, one of our dentists will start designing your dental crown right in front of your eyes using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) software. Once they’re satisfied with the look and fit of your CEREC crown, they’ll send it to the milling machine in our office to be made.
Dental Crowns Feel Comfortable and Look Natural
We use CEREC to take precise impressions of your teeth and gums. The result is a CEREC crown that feels comfortable when you bite down and chew. The last thing you want is to be in pain from an ill-fitting crown.
Request an appointment with one of our dentists to learn if a CEREC crown is the best way to restore your tooth.
We have a milling machine right in our office that will carve your crown out of a ceramic block. These ceramic blocks come in several shades. That way, we’re able to create a CEREC dental crown that looks natural and blends in with the rest of your smile.
Materials are Safe and Durable
Our CEREC crowns are made of materials like that of your tooth’s natural enamel. This makes them a safe and effective choice for tooth restoration. Often, these materials may even be stronger than a natural tooth. But if your crown does become damaged, we can easily repair or replace it in our office.
